Dr. Ibrahim Amjad began his journey into medicine early. Before completing high school in Northern New Jersey he had been accepted into a six year accelerated medical program. Dr. Amjad completed four years of college in two years and went on to medical school. The program was at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College. Students in the program took engineering classes and would graduate with a BS. Dr. Amjad decided at that time to also attain a minor in Psychology.
After medical school Dr. Amjad continued his education and training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. During his year as Chief Resident Dr. Amjad decided that Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, especially pediatric reconstruction would be the most rewarding and challenging. During his training he precepted students from NOVA, teaching them the art of surgery and guiding those who excelled into a career in Surgery. Completing his training in General Surgery he became board certified in General Surgery in 2001.
NSU COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE
Dr. Amjad then picked his first choice of plastic surgery programs, Summa Health Systems in Ohio. It was with great confidence that he picked this lesser known plastic surgery training program. The staff of this program was world renown for pediatric plastic surgery. It was at the craniofacial clinic that Dr. Amjad assisted in performing the second application of the RED system in Ohio. Excellence and integrity propelled Dr. Amjad and he received an Academic Award for scoring highest in the Plastic Surgery In-Service Exam. Dr. Amjad during his time as Chief Plastic Surgery Fellow, precepted medical students from NOVA Southeastern Medical School and received multiple awards.
Since pediatric plastic surgery always intrigued Dr. Amjad and seemed to be the most demanding technically and intellectually, he entered into a Pediatric and Craniofacial fellowship. At the time Dr. Amjad entered the fellowship it was only one of three programs acknowledged by the ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education). During this year fellowship Dr. Amjad trained in complex reconstruction of children and adults with congenital abnormalities and trauma.
Dr. Amjad became board certified in Plastic Surgery in 2004. Now he has the distinction of being “double board certified”. He also became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) both honorable distinctions.

Dr. Amjad began private practice in 2002. He first concentrated on his first love, pediatric plastic surgery. But then quickly Dr. Amjad noticed that all other aspects of plastic surgery tie into pediatric craniofacial plastic surgery. All facial plastic surgery is based on the anatomy reconstructed by a pediatric craniofacial surgeon. Breast reconstruction, augmentation and reduction is based on anatomy well known to the pediatric plastic surgeon during his or her reconstruction of a child’s chest and breast. Dr. Amjad now still performs a significant amount of pediatric plastic surgery but uses his unique skill in adult cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Honesty and integrity are two values you will see right away with Dr. Amjad. Attention to the wants and desires of his patients, balanced with realistic goals and expectations are what set him apart from other plastic surgeons.
